Lol, the post thread got me thinking... what DO I see on my GPS/Depth Finder on my boat... well it is in feet... a factor of 16 would be hard to overlook .  Pretty accurate, too.  I've had a couple of (literally) close scrapes when approaching my draft depth.  That's also why the location of the transducer is important for one to keep in mind

Indeed, erring on the "high side" would concern me.  sounds like an accident waiting to happen.  I trust we will have plenty of water beneath our Ilia.  I think NOAA uses "mean low" and "mean high."
