I would say SS was pretty dam busy with the K and the upfront and daily operations. Apparently JC's review was next.  Let say for argument sake there were some red flags that needed to be confirmed. Would you as CEO dump all this out without hard facts, would you throw the wrench unless you absolutely had to?? no, no one in their right mind would.

If somethings not adding up, the sequence would be to look at it thoroughly & address it internally, make adjustments then deal with it as needed or if needed publicly.

You cant send out a PR based on an internal red flag. You cant even say this would not have been handled correctly, JC blew this whole thing out of the water before anything could be done.
