I'm capable of getting water to go from my faucet through the drain pipe, but I have very good plumber who can do the job in 1/4 the time that I do it, and do it right PERIOD.  On paper it looks like it's cheaper for me to do it myself, but when I factor in how much duct tape, silicone, clamps, rags, curse words I use to get the job done, then have my wife complain about some mundane thing as a small drip that I catch with a bucket and empty every other day, and 2-3 hours of my time, it is a no brainer as far as I'm concerned.
