$NOK Forbes Earnings Preview for April 18

April 15 2013 - $NOK is expected to book a narrower loss than a year ago when it reports first quarter earnings on Thursday, April 18 , 2013 with analysts expecting a loss of 6 cents per share , up from a loss of 11 cents per share a year ago .
The consensus estimate has moved down from a loss of 5 cents over the past three months. Analysts are expecting earnings of one cent per share for the fiscal year. After being $9.79 billion a year ago, analysts project revenue to drop 11.7% year-over-year to $8.65 billion for the quarter. For the year, revenue is projected to come in at $38.15 billion.
Revenue has fallen in the past four quarters. Revenue in fourth quarter of the last fiscal year was $11.33 billion, a drop of 3.5% year-over-year. Revenue dropped 22.4% in the third quarter of the last fiscal year, fell 29% in second quarter of the last fiscal year and 33.6% in the first quarter of the last fiscal year.
Nokia saw profit in the last quarter, snapping a three-quarter streak of losses. The company reported a profit of $163.4 million in the fourth quarter of the last fiscal year , a loss of $1.25 billion in the third quarter of the last fiscal year, a loss of $1.79 billion in the second of the last fiscal year and a loss of $1.24 billion in the first quarter of the last fiscal year.
Analyst sentiment has waned during the last three months .
