FUJIFILM Biotechnologies, a world-leading contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), announced on March 18, 2021, that was building in Holly Springs the largest end-to-end cell culture CDMO biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility in North America. The $2 billion dollar project is historic because it will be the largest life sciences investment announcement ever in the state of North Carolina, putting Holly Springs and Wake County on the map as a leading site for life sciences growth in the country. Then, in April 2024, the company announced an additional $1.2 billion expansion of the facility that will add nearly 700 additional jobs.
The FUJIFILM manufacturing facility is part of the larger Holly Springs Business Park. The facility’s first phase is under construction and expected to be operational by spring 2025. Once open, the facility will develop, produce, package, and ship medicines approved by the Food and Drug Administration and other regulatory bodies across the country and around the world.
