I think avoidance of thimerosol is proper out of an abundance of caution. Thimerosol has been removed from childhood vaccines for 24 years. There should have been an immediate drop in autism cases. There wasn't. RFK Jr. always goes on about how there were almost no autism when he was young but that was the height of the use of thimerosol but that's when it was used in all vaccines.There's a reasonable chance of environmental causes combined with genetics that explain autism but thimerosol does not correlate with being it.
