Brilacidin disassembles the outer coating of bacteria and viruses.
In bacteria the pathogen cannot exist without it's cellular membrane.
In viruses Brilacidin inhibits the protein spikes and other proteins the virus uses to gain cellular entry. The alpha virus outer protective coating (armor) is essentially "scattered in the wind" where the T-cell plus other phagocytes and B-cell epitopes will make short work of it.
