Economists will weep. Nostradamus will issue a posthumous apology for not seeing it coming. The SEC might even give you a plaque.

As for Mr. Hoffman starting his first day in Munich: if he steps off that plane with a briefcase full of licensing agreements and FDA term sheets, I’ll eat one of those infamous investor PowerPoint slides with a side of Form 10-Q. Until then, I’m bracing for the more likely Tuesday tradition: another press release that leaves retail scratching their heads and shorts popping champagne.
