I’m going to play devils advocate for a minute here so please just entertain these thoughts and I’d like your opinion back please. I’ve been an author on a poster before and peer reviewed papers and I’ve had to defend the posters at presentations like this. I’ve been to many conferences like this over the years and the areas that I think you’re talking about are actually paid for by the sponsors. Pharmaceutical companies and other companies like those that produce imaging equipment, etc. They’ll pay for a “booth” and have representatives for each of those companies standing there, waiting for people to walk by and inquire about their products and services
The posters themselves are usually in another “hall” or they could also be located in the same room that the booths are, but at the very back end. The fancy digital displays that I think you’re talking about are actually owned and set up by the sponsors. So GSK could have a booth with their representatives and they could have several booths. Lots of fancy stuff some giveaways, maybe free coffee, etc.. QT imaging might have another booth with a fancy television screen, showing a video that runs on loop of their newest technology.
People like Pestell, Rugo etc. have time to walk around and talk to the representatives in each booth and gain information and exchange business cards. Scientist, researchers and representatives also have the opportunity to walk by the posters and for example, someone like Richard will be standing near his poster from noon until 12:45 PM on the 15th there are to answer questions. Most questions will just be inquiries, but there could be some questions about P values and the.”n” etc. He will be able to handle it all and handle it well.
From this promotional video, it looks like certain posters will be chosen, depending on the strength of the data to be given in the form of a presentation. Like late breakers, but in a larger separate room where those who are interested can hear the most important data presented by someone like Hope or Richard. If we are so lucky, Richard would be selected. But I don’t know if those selections have already happened or not or if they get selected in a small window of time leading up to the start of the conference
Fingers crossed. But having been to many conferences spanning many disease states over several decades the above have been my experiences in attending conferences like this.
