I’ve been with Schwab for a long time. I thought I’d share my recent Schwab experiences.
When I set up the cash account to hold our CYDY shares, it wouldn’t allow me to transfer my shares because there was an outstanding order that had to be canceled first. I had submitted a Good Till Cancelled order in December 2024 for 50k@.1102. Feels like a lifetime ago. Glad we are no longer at that price level and hope we never return to it.
When I started buying CYDY shares back in 2020, I always did All or Nothing orders. More recently when price dipped below my ask, it sometimes didn’t fill because the quantity offered was less than my bid. So I changed to No Minimum. Sometimes it would take six or more partial fills over a couple of hours to complete the order. Interesting to watch. On one of my orders, I had a partial fill of 3 shares at .14. When it looked like it wouldn’t come back down to that price, I upped my limit to .145. It filled the remaining 9997 shares at the higher limit. Schwab charged me 6.95 for the 3 shares and another 6.95 for the 9997 shares so it cost me 2.46 a share for those first 3 shares. Lesson learned. Changed to reasonable Minimum Quantity after that. Last week I got a partial fill of 4k shares. The next day the remaining 6k shares filled. Got charged 6.95 for each. Can’t win.
Those of you who don’t get charged a fee by your broker are so much better off. With Schwab you have to buy enough to offset the fee. Hope we are all still buying. Do your DD.
