Bill Gates in a recent PBS interview was asked what topics he will bring up to RFD Jr, "Eventually having a gene edit for an HIV cure".
Google Leronlimab and gene editing and you get the following:
HIV treatment
Leronlimab is used to treat HIV by binding to CCR5, a receptor that HIV uses to enter cells.
Leronlimab has been shown to be safe and effective in suppressing HIV in humans and macaques.
Leronlimab has been used in combination with antiretroviral therapy (ART).
Gene therapy
Leronlimab has been used in gene therapy studies to prevent HIV transmission from mother to infant.
In these studies, gene therapy would enable muscle cells in infant rhesus macaques to produce leronlimab, which would then protect them from HIV infection.
The goal of these studies is to develop a one-time injection that could prevent HIV transmission to babies.
I'm 99.9% convinced Bill Gates and Leronlimab will be sharing a lot of time together. Waiting for 100% confirmation still though...
