Forgot to reply. So the acquiring party wouldn’t own the shares until the deal is completed, but brokers may show increased holdings due to pre-closing agreements or pending transactions.
These could include forward contracts or escrow arrangements where shares are technically agreed upon but not yet transferred.
Broker platforms like Schwab or LSEG may also display conditional holdings based on internal data from large institutional orders or early visibility into the transaction, even though the official transfer hasn’t occurred. This is why we can see it.
It’s possible, not saying this for a fact but just pointing it out.
