I agree. Once these trials and studies take place, there will be Data and Deals for indications.
And there will be FOMO, and that will cure any conversion of shares, dumping of shares, and shorting of shares (short interest rose by at least 5-6 million shares in the most recent FINRA reports over the previous month) and any other forces holding down share price.
That 5-6 million shares increase in shorted shares may not sound like a lot, but it represents about 300,000 shares shorted per day over each of 20 trading days in a month. Some days the increase in short interest will be higher than 300,000, some days not as much, but the average is somewhere around there for this month.
In other months, the average short sale interest increase has been even much higher. So they (whoever they are, coordinated traders, hedge funds possibly) have the ability to scale short interest. When you realize that that is the case, the ability to judiciously respond to price jumps and large buy orders with short sales on top of other regular sales to modulate price is real, but it won't be possible once Data and Deals take place. It will also take away any incentive to do so
