I saw a post on Reddit (sunraydoc) and even though I’ve been involved in HIV for many years I completely forgot that it was ViiV who acquired the HIV assets from BMS. And so Dr. Max went from heading the HIV clinical development and R&D for BMS to doing the same job at ViiV Where he then oversaw the drugs from BMS, GSK, PFE and Shinogi. Shout out to KenChowder For letting us know, he’s no longer at ViiV.

ViiV was established in 2009 when PFE and GSK combined their assets.. Shinogi Joined in 2012. ViiV ends up buying BMS’s HIV assets in 2016. Dr. Max goes over in 2016. His LinkedIn account says he “directed integration of BMS HIV franchise into ViiV Healthcare” from 2016 to 2019. And we can assume based on his LinkedIn account that he was at ViiV all the way up until two weeks ago When he gained the global SVP title at CYDY.
He’s not just at CYDY to kick the tires. The tires have already been kicked. I think he’s there to integrate at least LL’s (CYDY) HIV programs/indications with and all versions of LL into ViiV. ViiV may also be thinking about expanding beyond HIV and into the other indications with LL.
Dr. Max is an expert at many things, but we can also say he’s an expert at merging HIV programs from multiple companies And turned those mergers into a finally oiled machine.
