Basic search for CCR5 and pulmonary fibrosis gets some hits. Here’s one from this year mentions Maravoric. Also severe Asthma.

A line from your posted article got me thinking,
“The researchers also hope that the collaboration can help eliminate racial disparities in lung disease outcomes. For example, one study found that Black patients with pulmonary fibrosis were significantly younger when they were first hospitalized, received a lung transplant and died compared to Hispanic and white patients.”
We know that the CCR5 deletions following bubonic plaque are more present in European descendants (including Spaniards) than African descendants. I wonder if this too might be in our wheelhouse eventually.
