This would certainly explain some of the short selling. The important question is how much?
Over the past month each day's volume has been shorted by about 50% (on average over the previous 4 weeks). That means 50% of the sells are being provided by shorts. Does Paulson and Fife account for most of it? I'm not so sure. Or is there an additional reason?
I think Cardamine's question is key, and I quote: "Is there somewhere where the numbers of Paulson and Fife's remaining warrants are stated? Is it in the Q? How long until we can get out from under them?"
Someone undoubtedly knows the answer to Cardamine's question of how much is remaining, and that would be interesting to know. If it turns out that it accounts for most of it, that's a good thing because what is remaining will be used up at some point.
Having said that, I'd also like to add:
1. I have great confidence in Dr J
2. I believe we have funding if he says we have funding
3. I think prospects are brighter now than ever due to awesome management team
