Is the underlying cause of the hyperthyroidism Graves Disease (autoimmunity)? CCR5 is highly elevated in the thyroid in that disease which increases cytokine production and helps drive T-cells to the thyroid increasing the autoimmune reaction. Especially implicated are cytokines, IL1-b, IL-1, IL-6, IFN-y, TNF-a, VEGF binding factors, ICAM-1,VCAM-1 and the ligand CCL5 all downregulated by leronlimab.
The common trigger that seems to trip Graves Disease and other forms of hyperthyroidism over to Thyrotoxicosis is cytokine driven inflammation from any other cause in other words a cytokine storm. Quelling cytokine storms are of course leronlimab's forte.
In an absolute emergency situation either FDA compassionate use or most State Right to Try pathways would be to bureaucratically slow to get approval in time. The only way to obtain a drug very quickly would be Federal Right to Try. Under Federal Right to Try the only things you would need are the Physician's willingness to try it, the patient's approval and the drug companies willingness to send it.
The best thing to do is to try to get pre-approval from the Physician, patient and drug company before an emergency arises so the drug can be sent quickly.
