Former President Donald Trump’s confidential document case was tossed out by a federal judge in Florida Monday, in a stunning move.
Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the case against the presumptive Republican presidential nominee on the grounds that the appointment of special counsel Jack Smith to the case violated the Constitution.
Trump was accused of hoarding troves of confidential documents at his Mar-a-Lago home.
The Department of Justice and lawyers for Trump both did not immediately return requests for comment Monday.
