As the primary mechanism of action I didn't think to list it. The blockade of CCR5 itself actually increases surface expression of CCR5 because leronlimab keeps it at the cell surface rather than being recycled back into the cell. The increase in chemokines themselves are what bring CCR5 to the surface initially. Then CCR5 binding with the ligands in turn increases the chemokines in a feedback loop. That feedback loop can overwhelm the the anti-inflammatory chemokines which is when the immune system goes completely out of control.
