A few things that have never been mention here...
1.) TikTok can pour unlimited marketing into this event if 'they want'. I assume 'they want' and it could cost them nothing. Why wouldn't they want the 1st 24 hour event in the US to be super successful?
2.) I believe TikTok has the ability to tweak their algorithm on the fly whenever they want. I think that was what was happening yesterday when people were joining the live show every second. Today I was scrolling and 3 of the first videos were Market.Live videos. Yes I know because I watch them I'm more inclined to have them pushed into my scrolling but 3 out of the first 4? That hasn't happen with any videos before.
