Why then do many elderly have a delayed immune response?
Why do some diseases simply fester in the elderly, without any or only a mitigated immune response to eradicate it?
Are the cells which do the fighting so aged and decrepit that although there are present sufficient receptors to instruct them as to where to go, the overall fighting power of these cells is just pathetic?
Maybe that is why there is the need for more and more CCR5 receptors, because fewer would not be sufficient to guide and instruct these fatigued white blood cells.
