Re-reading that email is so infuriating. I am not a super conspiracy theorist (maybe I'm wrong for that) but at the very least the FDA appeared inept in ignoring all of the potential positives (with almost no negatives) and it unfortunately cost a lot of lives.

This, coupled with watching the Painkiller miniseries on Netflix about OxyContin makes me wonder why the FDA doesn't get held liable for their screw-ups that cost so many lives.
