The business plan of ambulance-chaser law firms is to find someone to act as lead plaintiff, so that the law firm can greenmail the targeted company into paying them to drop the suit. It’s much cheaper for a company to pay them to go away than it is to pay millions in legal fees to fight the case.

It’s despicable and is yet another of the many ways small companies get screwed because of laws that allow stuff like this.
