There is an interesting picture posted on X showing the blood brain barrier. It was posted by Danielle Beckman who is a neuroscientist and researcher at the California Primate Center. Since there has been discussion on this board about LL crossing the BBB, I thought this picture might be of interest. The color photo is quite dramatic and the comments have been extremely positive – most posters are in awe of the details shown here. If anyone is interested in the details of how she stained, read the first few comments.

This is from a neonatal monkey whose mom was infected with the Zika virus. We suspected despite not having microcephaly, this animal was suffering from neuroinflammatory damage caused by the virus. So, the astrocytes are a bit more activated than usual.
