My personal trading method is to catch a falling knife that slices my fingers off on the way down, then, when the knife finally hits bottom and bounces up above where I caught it, to hang on to the stock instead of selling at a modest profit. That way I can keep repeating the action, without bothering with those pesky capital gains.
