The obvious reason that he's the interim CEO is that he has his own company to run, and he is doing us a huge favor by getting things going -- but he can't abandon his own work forever.

The fact that he's doing this for minimum pay, seemingly for the good of humanity and his belief in the drug, speaks volumes.
