Big Mine - Little Mine. Do you picture the Santa Elena mine site as as broad and sprawling mining complex? . Well is it and isn't. It's larger than about ten residential lots but still small in terms of a major mine.
Here is a comparative of the now mothballed Noche Buena Mine on the left and at exactly the same scale the Santa Elena mine on the right just down and to the left of the Mexus annotation. The ponds at Santa Elena barely show up as a black rectangle and the entire mined and ops area would fit inside the pit at Noche Buena.
No particular point being made other than illustrating that Santa Elena was a starter mine- just the beginnings of what the CEO and others proclaimed would rival the larger neighboring mines someday.
There is new excavation and disturbed earth each week at Santa Elena - still unknown as to who's there and toward what end. Wish I knew more.
You can do a right click then COPY IMAGE and take the saved image to a photo app and enlarge for a better look. The Hangout limits the size I can embed in a message but the larger view is there downsized It's still low res Sentinel II data. The images are both from Oct 1st, 2023.
