With a significant rise in CCR5 above normal levels it would be natural for cancers to occur at greater level than expected. In a normal immune system there is a greater chance to keep any potential cancer in check. Rising CCR5 levels would allow pre-tumorous cells to hijack the immune system easier allowing those cells to evade the immune system and turn tumorous.
