Use Guidelines

Texture depends on water temperature. Not all "cold" water is the same!

Texture depends on water temperature

In many places "cold" tap water reaches 80 degrees F (27 degrees C) during summer. Even if that feels cool to the touch, it's warm enough to soften Scrub Daddy.

When you need a coarse or firm texture, try immersing Scrub Daddy with a few ice cubes in a bowl of water. And you can keep a Scrub Daddy in the fridge or freezer so a coarse scrubber is always at your service.

Scrub, NOT SCOUR

Scrub, NOT SCOUR

Scrub Daddy is a scrubber, not a scouring pad. It can remove debris from a surface without damaging or scratching. Some stains and residues, especially if carbonized (blackened), may prove resistant to Scrub Daddy at normal temperatures. You may want to try a very cold Scrub Daddy with a detergent.

Scratch resistance

Scratch resistance

In independent lab tests, Scrub Daddy did not scratch wood, plastic, stainless steel, non-stick coatings or glass. In fact it's been found safe on just about every surface—but if you have concerns about your material, it's a good idea to test a small inconspicuous area first.

Chemical-free cleaning

chemical-free

Scrub Daddy effectively removes many stains and substances with nothing but plain water, so you can minimize the use of harsh chemicals. Environment-conscious users report good results with baking soda. Keep in mind that some household cleaners contain abrasives or chemicals that can damage surfaces. Always test on a small inconspicuous area first.

Keeping fresh

Scrub Daddy is independently lab proven to resist odors if cleaned and rinsed for up to 2 months. To keep your Scrub Daddy fresh and maximize service life, rinse thoroughly after each use. Scrub Daddy's semi-closed cellular structure prevents most debris from embedding deep in the material.

Food and other particles do not stick to the material although some may become lodged in the pores. You can usually flush them out by simply squeezing and massaging repeatedly under warm running water for 30 seconds. You can wash Scrub Daddy in the laundry or dishwasher. Depending on humidity, it dries in a few hours sitting out on the counter (faster if standing on edge).

Exfoliation and hand scrubbing

Scrub Daddy was invented as a hand scrubber and many users enjoy its gentle but thorough action on skin. You can adjust the water temperature to alter the scrubbing texture.

Please keep in mind that a cold, firm Scrub Daddy will scratch your skin! For exfoliation, we recommend starting with warm water for a relatively soft texture. You can use cooler water for a firmer texture as you go a long, adjusting the temperature gradually to avoid excessive abrasion. Test the product on a small area of your skin before you proceed.

Absorption

Absorption

Scrub Daddy's semi-closed cellular material does not absorb as much water as a common sponge at or below room temperature. You can change the absorbency by adjusting water temperature—the warmer Scrub Daddy is the more effectively it picks up and retains liquids.

Service life

service life

With proper care—such as not scrubbing very abrasive surfaces—Scrub Daddy may last as long as 2 months or more depending on your individual use. A torn or crumbly Scrub Daddy is ready for retirement. Many users keep an old Scrub Daddy in the garage or workshop and use it to clean items such as lawn furniture and car wheels.
