I can remember seeing that episode on network television as a kid as well as many others. In my opinion, it is no more racist than "The Jeffersons" or any other show that appears on TV. All of those old episodes, if recast, would probably be massive hits that would rival "The Cosby Show" and "Sanford and Son".

I think it was Eddie Murphy who didn't believe that the show wasn't racist based on the fact that most blacks in each episode were wearing suits and going about their jobs as doctors, lawyers, cpa's. etc.
