I looked further into using AI in this application, and it is an interesting idea. As much as it is the tech buzzword, when there is a lot of data with different uses and quality, AI can be a great tool to point a direction. Instead of forming a theory based on observation and mechanism of action, AI could really show what the drug is doing and why very clearly. I would think BP is using ai more and more to get insight beyond what the small biotech has thought of. It is not so much about different indications, more for a focused analysis to better form protocols and better data collection. It might be interesting to take the data collected from past trials and see what AI pieces together.
When is was in college, I had a professors who r-purposed a database software to analyze complex data. Basically large amounts of un biased data was entered and the database would clump together seemingly un related facts into potential synergistic opportunities. Basically don’t rely on or human logic, rely on information that works together.
