Yes, if we were to receive a buyout offer Monday it would likely be around 54 cents and could be up to around 80 cents.
I'm in a couple of clinical-stage medical device companies that may eventually be bought out and it's the same problem: buyout offers very, very likely won't come close to what shareholders think the company is worth unless the share price increases a lot.
Big medical companies have shareholders as well who would revolt if the big company paid massive multiples for a clinical-stage company they could instead buy for 2-3x the share price. And super crazy bidding wars don't tend to happen in real life.
