If only there were a safe drug that people could use for years to stop HIV.

In a release Tuesday, A-Alpha said it plans to use its platforms to find proteins that can be a therapeutic benefit, with Gilead possibly incorporating them into future HIV therapies. A-Alpha specifically will use its synthetic biology platform, called AlphaBind, to find the proteins that can best be used in therapies.
Exact financial details were not disclosed, but A-Alpha will get an upfront and near-term payment if it is successful and could be eligible for future milestone payments and royalties if Gilead chooses to license the proteins.
