19 Jokes About This Incredibly Nosy, Big-Headed Fish That Has The Internet Obsessed

Tue, May 30, 2023

If you were on Twitter at all this weekend, then you likely came across this video of an incredibly nosy, big-headed fish.

The Video , which has amassed over 41.4 million views in the five days it's been online, shows an Asian sheepshead wrasse, or kobudai fish, closely watching her companion hammer away at what will soon become her meal. The diver repeatedly pushes the fish back as they work before eventually feeding his persistent friend.

And just like that, the internet has become obsessed. They not only relate to the fish's seemingly excessive interest but also the diver's exasperation. Here's 21 of the funniest tweets about the duo:

1.Me "helping" my bf put together a piece of furniture

2. Me watching them make my chipotle bowl

3. this is what it’s like doing something around children

4. When my boyfriend opens a bag of crisps

5. How I am with other peoples business

6. this is what i imagine dealing with an HOA is like

And for anyone who feels like they may have seen this diver or fish before, it's because you likely have! The pair made headlines in 2017 when diver Hiroyuki Arakawa shared that he first encountered the kobudai at the gate of Hasama Underwater Park's Shinto shrine, where he serves as a caretaker.
The fish appeared to be sick and tired, so Hiroyuki Arakawa cared for her until she was better, and provided a fresh supply of crabs. The two have now been been friends for nearly 30 years.
