Observation on today's trading...
Just happened to notice some steady buying across the spread in 100-200 share lots repeatedly for much of the day. The last time I noticed this was when I posted about it on 7/15/22 (https://investorshangout.com/post/view?id=6438570) where there was also steady across spread buying in small lots (with some larger trades/blocks mixed in - also across the spread as folks realized the sellers weren't going to hit bids so if you wanted to buy it, you needed to pay up for it).
That was the beginning of the rise to over a buck on the GSK rumors fwiw.
A lot of short covering occurred from 7/15 through 8/11 (~8mm shares worth per public short interest data) which was roughly 8-9% of the total volume traded during that timeframe.
We shall see if this follows a similar pattern but more sustainable this time with actual news to back it up!
Also - any votes for replacing "somebody knows something" with "the silence may be golden"? Maybe mix & match? "The golden silence may be somebody knows something"?
And that's one to grow on...(for you 80's folks!)
