The Classic Head Gold Half Eagle, designed by William Kneass, was minted from 1834 to 1838. In 1836, the Philadelphia Mint struck 553,147 examples of the Classic Head Gold Half Eagle. This example has been graded in Mint State 63+ condition. Out of all 1836-P Classic Head Gold Half Eagles recovered from the shipwreck SS Pulaski, only 1 has been graded in MS63+ condition with no finer known examples. With no examples graded higher than this one , this stunning coin is not only a Condition Rarity, but is also among the finest known examples of the issue.
