Fact is it is an immune booster and that classification is a vaccine. Flu vaccine is similar. Not all vaccines gave you immunity even in the old days. Some lasted a season some lasted only 10 years. Some lasted a lifetime… the percentage of effectiveness was never 100% but some were close.
