It is never a good idea to give the shorts any advance information that they can use to, for instance, run the stock up and then short it at highs, or alternatively, buy it, run it up on news, and then sell it and short it.
It's bad enough to see how stocks so frequently run up, or tank, before the news reaches the rest of us. (It seems clear that hedge funds etc. have sources inside various entities that feed them news in advance.) Why make it easier for the smaller, possibly retail, traders with bad intent to hurt us, by posting breathless updates on everything the company does?
