That is excellent thinking. It was also relaxed during covid.
rs don't fundamentally change the company, but it is a dog whistle for disbarred, wanna be, or unethical brokers, no-balls and the whole slew of them. Some of them will not even know or care what a company does, but will place a bet the sp will go down.
It's true that many companies that rs are failing but a good number are not. Companies that aren't, that have been shorted way below the value, really can't be shorted too much more without extremely high risk. That's why smart investors know a rs in a good company is a non-event especially one that has a lot of shorts.
I would add, no one knows what's coming, likely this quarter. It would be foolish to have an open short position with this big unknown.
Maybe with a lot of DD and some luck with the Google Machina, I'll be the first to know. I am certainly looking everyday for super, top secret information.
