Just my opinion but I think that to a degree, and maybe a large degree, the pubbies were did in by the abortion issue.

I don't see it as a sign of weakness at all that a massive issue like abortion finally hit center stage. The pubbies had been promising for years that this issue would be dealt with and it finally happened. And regardless to whether one likes it or not, a Washington DC promise was finally kept. From my point of view, it's just unfortunate they had to pay such a heavy price for the Supreme Court doing the right thing.
