The financials for SFRX show the purchases of hundreds of thousands of $$ worth of shares that were bought by 'related parties'. One of those buyers is also a board member. Which means at the very least, more than one family member has been buying shares for over a decade.
Total share count now owned by these 'related parties' is estimated at around 1 billion shares.
No family members were "given" shares.
