I expect to see it Friday, but there are no guarantees. Maybe they found some rube to pay for it, or took out another loan. We shall see.
Mexico is a dangerous place these days. Not even in a resorts are you safe from the cartel violence. It used to be just the police you had to watch for while driving there, and carry some extra cash for “traffic fines”.
Times are a changing.
It’s a hard life they have in the desert. The Mexicans have been getting slaughtered since the conquistadors arrived. Still they are some of the friendliest, hard working, most religious people you will ever meet. I love Mexico, and still go a few times every year.
One of the best places to visit used to be Reynosa, down on the Texas border. Badgerbob senior was a frequent visitor to the King Ranch, so we got to go along and used to make day trips to the border.
Used to be some fine restaurants and shopping for leather goods and such there. Unfortunately it’s no longer safe due to the heavy cartel presence, so now we stick closer to San Antonio- Corpus Christie area and don’t go much further south than Kingsville.
Have no idea what transpired with the recent ship of golden dreams, but the last one sunk and was cut up for salvage by the local authorities in Nome, if I recall correctly.
