As far as the FDA, one of the reasons they gave for saying it was "adulterated" was that anatabine was found naturally in tobacco (as well as other members of the nightshade family, like tomatoes) -- and that tobacco per se is specifically barred from being a dietary supplement, so by their reasoning, a substance found in tobacco is an adulterant.
I guess it's a good thing that Vitamin C seems not to be in tobacco, or they'd have to pull it off the market too, by that logic.
"Scurvy? Who cares? Vitamin C is in tobacco so it's dangerous."
Okay, I'll shut up about this now, I just wanted to make sure the people who were concerned about inflammation knew that this existed.
