Is Venezuelan crude heavy?
Venezuela's crude oil is very heavy by international standards, and as a result much of it must be processed by specialized domestic and international refineries.
Lighter oils generally receive higher prices than heavier oils, because they are easier (and cheaper) to process in refineries.
Heavy crude oil has more negative impact on the environment than its light counterpart since its refinement requires the use of more advanced techniques an the use of contaminants.
