When DOS built the world’s first full ocean depth side scan sonar for Caladan Oceanic, the tech didn’t tell them where the Sammy B was, they had good research.
They had DOS build the device because they knew where the wreck was, but there was no equipment available to CONFIRM the location.
They scanned on June 18th and got an image of the wreck, and on June 22 the world deepest wreck, the Sammy B, was positively identified by Victor Vescovo and Jeremie Morizet in the DSV Limiting Factor at 6852 meters.
It took 4 days at sea, but the research put them on the wreck.
These multi-decade fantasies are for amateurs and clown shows.
