Trump took his advice from junk science quacks, hence his amazing riffs on disinfecants and light and horse medication. Fauci neither disparaged mask wearing nor social distancing, Trump did both.
Trump is on the record stating that he wanted to 'downplay the pandemic so as not to panic us'. He did not get behind the vaxxes publicly until earlier this year.
He screwed up every way one could. He was afraid he would lose his reelection. And his inactions led to exactly that result.
One as heedless of the facts as you are should not be calling others 'deranged'.
It smacks of projection.
