In general it would depend upon what is wrong medically/mentally with his daughter coupled with if a persons wife is unable to deal with the child at that moment. Sometimes the harshness of physical and mental defects from birth or accidents create problems as such. WTF really knows but generally depending upon how bad the addiction might be generally leads into other addiction that will falsely hide the problem. Anyone with normal status in their thinking might spot these problems by whatever way a child or an adult acts in differently then typical/general scenarios.
