Seel, in PH2/3 trials I am under the assumption that half of the patients get the drug being tested and the other half get a placebo.  I personally would offer to pay big bucks to make sure I didn't get the placebo but I know things don't work that way.  Anyway, my question is if the drug is found effective and safe, do those patients that received the placebo get the real drug free of charge for participating in the trials?  I would be mighty upset to find they gave a loved one a placebo and now we will have to pay an arm and a leg for the cure whereas those that got the real deal got it for nothing in the trials.  Can't even begin to imagine the feeling should the patient die knowing they got the placebo should the half getting the drug all be on the road to recovery.
