As of this March, One Medical had about 767,000 members and 188 medical offices in 25 markets, according to its first-quarter earnings report, which also showed the company had incurred a net losses of $90.9 million after pulling in $254.1 million in revenue. The total deal value announced Thursday includes One Medical’s debt.
Couple things you can take away from this purchase by Amazon.
1. They are fairly desperate to get into the healthcare business (One Medical had 90 million in losses).
2. They realize they need help doing so.
3. Doc has been deep in the pharmaceutical side of healthcare for decades with a wealth of knowledge and experience. No reason that his “partnership “ with Amazon has soured.
Doc is doing everything he can to stay on the cutting edge. I am steadily raiding my BEER fund stash to support this vision and will stick this one out to the finish/start line. Good luck!
