Two Mexican nationals were charged in US court on Tuesday over dozens of dead migrants found in a truck in Texas on Monday.

The men are suspected of human trafficking which resulted in the deaths of 51 people. According to court documents, they are also charged with illegal possession of weapons.

The truck’s registration led detectives to an address in San Antonio. There, the two men were arrested as they left the home.

The third suspect arrested is an American who was driving the truck. He should also be charged, but he is still hospitalized. We don’t know what’s wrong with him.

Initially, it was assumed that 46 people had died. It later emerged that 39 men and 12 women were involved, presumably all from Central American countries.

The US Immigration Service discovered them in a truck on the outskirts of the town of San Antonio in southern Texas, about 250 kilometers from the Mexican border.

Eleven people survived the ordeal. They were hospitalized with symptoms of overheating and heatstroke.
